Treating Metastatic Renal Cell Carcinoma: A Workshop for
Oncology Nurses
Led by RCC physician and nurse thought leaders, this symposium will highlight the latest clinical trial data likely to affect nursing practice in 2009 and describe best practices for managing treatment-related side effects. The program will begin with an overview of treatment options for patients with metastatic disease and review new clinical research. This will be followed by workshops on specific nursing management strategies for new classes of agents used for metastatic RCC, including mTOR, vascular endothelial growth factor, and multikinase inhibitors. An interactive question-and-answer activity will provide attendees with a working model for incorporating up-to-date standards and assessment tools into their routine nursing practices. The program will begin and end with knowledge-based questions to gauge participants’ understanding of learning objectives.
